8% now High. Over 5% your emails are more likely to land in spam, and your sending can be limited or paused.
1.6% after cleaning Healthy. Under about 2% is what most senders aim for.
Is checking your list worth it?

Checking 10,000 addresses uses 10,000 credits, about $28.00 at our Growth pack rate. Credits are sold in packs from $15 and never expire, so any credits left over stay for your next list. Unknown results are free, so the real cost can be a little lower.

If cleaning removes 80% of your bounces, you would save about $154 in a year. After the cost of checking, that is +$126 in the first year, paid back in about 3 months.

On sending cost alone, checking pays for itself in the first year when your bounce rate is above about 1.5%. The bigger risk is your sender reputation: a high bounce rate can send even your good emails to spam, and that does not show up in this number.

How this is worked out

  • Emails that bounce each month = addresses on the list × times you send × your bounce rate.
  • Wasted each month = bounced emails × what one email costs you.
  • Cost of checking = one credit per address, at the price per credit of the smallest Scrapevia pack that covers your list.
  • Yearly saving = the monthly waste × the share of bounces cleaning removes × 12.

These are estimates from the numbers you enter. Real results depend on how old your list is and where it came from.

Questions

What is a good bounce rate?

Many senders treat a hard bounce rate under about 2% as healthy and anything higher as a warning sign. Read more in our guide to what a good email bounce rate is.

Why does a bounce cost more than the sending fee?

Mailbox providers watch how many of your emails bounce. If too many do, they trust you less and may send even your good emails to spam. That damage is slow to repair and is not counted in the dollars above.

How does checking a list lower my bounce rate?

A check finds addresses that do not exist before you send, so you can remove them. See how to verify an email list before sending. You can also try our free typo and format checker or check a single address.

Does this calculator store what I enter?
