How to Find Business Emails on Instagram
6 min read
Many businesses put a contact email on their Instagram profile, either in the bio or on the profile's contact button. If you sell to businesses, that makes Instagram a useful place to find leads. The hard part is not finding one email. It is finding hundreds that fit your market without opening profiles one by one.
Where the emails come from
- The contact email a business profile shows on its contact button.
- An address the owner typed into the bio.
- A public phone number, when the profile lists one.
Personal accounts usually show no email at all, and private accounts show nothing. That is why only a share of any list will have an email. A realistic result is a minority of a list, and it depends a lot on the niche.
Step 1: Start from the right place
The best lists come from accounts where your buyers already gather. There are two reliable starting points:
- The accounts a profile follows. If a trade supplier, an industry magazine or a well-known local brand follows many businesses in your market, that list is a ready-made directory.
- The commenters on a post. People who comment on a post about your topic have shown interest. Comments also show who is active.
Step 2: Narrow the list before you spend credits
A list of a few thousand accounts is mostly noise. Keep public accounts only, and remove the ones that are clearly not your market. Looking up fewer accounts costs fewer credits and gives you a cleaner file.
Step 3: Look up the details
For each remaining account you want the follower count, the account type (personal, creator or business), the category, and the public email. Then filter: for example, business accounts with 1,000 to 50,000 followers in the category you sell to, that show an email.
Step 4: Verify before you send
An email on a profile can be old or mistyped. Sending to bad addresses makes your messages bounce, and too many bounces hurt your sender reputation. Run the list through an email check and send to the ones that pass first.
Paste or upload your list. Only Passed and Failed results use a credit. Unknown results are free.
Open the email checkerDo it responsibly
- Write to people about something relevant to their business, not a generic blast.
- Tell them who you are and how you found them, and make it easy to opt out.
- Follow the email laws that apply to your recipients, for example CAN-SPAM in the US, and GDPR and similar rules elsewhere.
Collecting public contact details is only the start. The rules about how you may email them still apply to you.
Collect the accounts a profile follows, filter them, and get the public emails. New accounts get 100 free credits.
